POPULATION AND ECONOMIC PROBLEMS

Resources are classified in to two categories
Natural resources and
Human resources.
  • By increasing human resources more and better economic progress can be achieved.
  • The human resources by a country is provided by its population.
  • Birth rate, death rate, life expectancy, literacy etc are some of the factors of population.
POPULATION
Total number of people living in a country at a given time is called its population.
  • Highest populated country in the world is CHINA
  • Second largest populated country in the world is India.
(analyse the picture and table 8.1 in text,then prepare a note).

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY OF POPULATION
  1. To assess the availability of human resource needed for production.
  2. To estimate the required basic infrastructure.
  3. To estimate the requirements of products and service.
  4. To understand the social and cultural structure of population
  5. To compare the population of other countries.
  6. To understand the quality of standard of living
  7. To calculate the development of a country.
